Happy May 1st

Well its been a weird month of 1^st’s all round this month.

• 1^st new hire
• 1^st final quarter for BT&S
• 1^st remote onboarding experience
• 1^st month of lockdown recruitment
• 1^st virtual month end drinks

By any stretch of the imagination we are not working in a business as usual world, whilst trying to maintain a semblance of normality. We naturally want to focus on the positives that we have as its easy to linger on the negatives in a global pandemic, as all people will be impacted in one way or another and that cannot be avoided. Friends and family being furloughed. Holidays and parties cancelled. Missed opportunities to see people who we will never see again, and unable to give loved ones a hug (as virtual just doesn’t cut it in some circumstances).

Focussing on the positives – Jane has completed her first month with BT&S and has proven to be a fabulous hire (we had no doubts). She is positive, cheerful and has embraced working with us in this unusual start to her new job. Picking things up quickly, sharing ideas, improving things and taking the initiative – just what it said on the tin.

We are still sticking to our ‘have fun’ philosophy and the plan to get together on the last Friday of every month. Discussing our future plans proves a little crystal ball gazing at present – but we can still give it a good stab over a bottle of fizz.  This month we have bumped it back a week to tie in with next weeks Bank Holiday weekend for VE Day and moved it to a virtual event via Teams in our respective Kitchens.
