We are looking for an Assistant Accountant (Rent & Service Charges) to join this Manchester-based growing and evolving Social Housing provider. You will join a team passionate about delivering excellent service to their tenants, enabling them to prosper and thrive as a community.
THE JOB
You will assist in the delivery of budgeting, financial reporting, and calculation of rent and service charge income and expenditure. You’ll be a proactive champion within the finance team, supporting others in their understanding of service charges.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the review of service charge expenditure on a monthly basis
- Lead the review of the day-to-day repairs carried out in communal areas working alongside the sales, leasehold, and commercial teams
- Variance analysis, analysing against budget and projection and quantifying any potential impact to year-end & future years budgets
- Support the delivery of the rent and service charge I&E budgets
- Maintain the database of target rents
- Help ensure the ground rent notifications are issued
THE PERSON
- Experience of working in a finance and service charge environment with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial colleagues
- Demonstrable experience of applying rent & service charges policies and procedures
- Part qualified Accountant, actively studying towards a full qualification, with financial and management accounting experience
- A natural advocate of continuous improvement
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good knowledge of service charge legislation
