Credit Controller – Up to £30,000 + Benefits

A successful and rapidly expanding business based in Skelmersdale is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join its established credit control team on a permanent basis.

As a Credit Controller, you will be part of a supportive team of six, working full-time (8:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:30am–5:00pm on Fridays – 39.5 hours per week).

THE JOB

As Credit Controller, you will play a key role in managing customer accounts to minimise bad debt and maximise cash flow, ensuring that outstanding balances are settled promptly. You will also be responsible for assessing and processing new credit applications, evaluating creditworthiness, setting appropriate credit limits, and advising on credit-related decisions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Credit Control & Reporting:
    Manage month-end reporting, customer statement runs, and reviews of unallocated cash; attend regular debt meetings to present ledger positions and identify areas needing support.
  • Debt & Risk Management:
    Oversee the Dunning procedure, chase overdue accounts, and ensure adherence to credit control policies and credit risk processes, including customer account openings and monitoring of credit exposure.
  • Collaboration & Professional Conduct:
    Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, uphold confidentiality, and represent the Group professionally in all interactions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Development:
    Engage in professional development, stay current with industry practices, and contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented work environment.
  • General Responsibilities:
    Carry out additional duties or training as required, in line with the role’s level of responsibility.

THE PERSON

You will have proven experience in credit control or a finance-related environment, with a solid history of achieving results in a B2B setting. Exceptional communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple ledgers and perform effectively under pressure.

You must also demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and be within a commutable distance of Skelmersdale, as this is an office-based position.
