Paying £77,467 p.a. plus a wide range of excellent benefits, Salix Homes, the multi-award winning social housing provider based in Salford are recruiting for a Qualified Director of Finance. They are looking for a forward thinking and dedicated finance professional to join them.


Reporting into and supporting the Executive Director of Resources you will manage, motivate and lead a results driven finance team being accountable for delivering results in an innovative, inclusive and enthusiastic way whilst upholding the values and integrity of the organisation acting as a role model and leading by example.

Key Responsibilities

You will support the organisation with effective financial management and ongoing development of financial strategy and controls. . As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will support in defining and delivering Salix Homes priorities, policies and plans including implementation and monitoring of financial plans and initiatives.

Leading strategic projects and initiatives to achieve corporate priorities and challenging targets, you will exercise effective financial management controls, working within budget parameters and time constraints to achieve business objectives at all times seeking value for money and social return on investment.

Developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders is vital along with the appetite and ability to identify and drive improvements supporting and playing an integral part in delivering the corporate plan. You will be accountable for all areas of finance including:

  • Financial and statutory accounting including external audit sign off
  • Management accounting and Finance Business Partnering
  • Budgeting & Financial Business Planning and Stress Testing
  • Treasury management
  • Accounting for Rents & Service Charges (including leaseholders)
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable Team

You will demonstrate a flexible approach to strategic leadership, to ensure that the strategic and operational needs of the organisation are met, undertaking different duties as, when and where required by the Executive Director of Resources


  • It is essential you are a qualified accountant with proven and practical experience of working in the housing sector. You will be a natural leader who works best operating in an environment of challenge and have the ability to actively develop and work alongside strong and motivated teams. 
  • The role will operate within a dynamic environment and will suit someone comfortable in promoting and managing change and comfortable at meeting demanding targets.
  • The role is a blend of both operational and strategic finance that will give the successful applicant exposure to the Board alongside internal and external stakeholders, so the ability to build trusted and long-standing relationships are incredibly important.
