Finance Business Partner (Assets, Repairs & Maintenance) | Manchester Office / Agile | £55,500
We’re recruiting a Finance Business Partner for a well-established, values-led organisation providing homes and services across Greater Manchester. This is a hands-on business partnering role supporting Assets, Repairs & Maintenance, so we’re looking for a qualified accountant with strong fixed asset and capital accounting experience, ideally gained within property, housing or another asset-intensive environment. You’ll work closely with operational managers and budget holders, getting behind the numbers to understand performance, challenge spend and provide the financial insight needed to make better decisions.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of financial support and reporting across the Assets and Repairs directorate, including:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Partnering with budget holders to review performance, variances, risks and forecasts.
- Supporting financial planning for the Asset Management programme.
- Leading on budgeting, forecasting, profiling and financial planning for your business area.
- Providing financial insight and challenge around repairs, maintenance, planned and cyclical works.
- Supporting fixed asset, capital expenditure and depreciation accounting.
- Reviewing accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and other month-end activity.
- Contributing to Leadership Team and Board financial reporting.
- Supporting year-end, statutory accounts and external audit.
- Managing and developing junior members of the finance team.
- Helping improve finance processes, systems and reporting.
About You
You’ll be a qualified accountant – CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent – who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to build relationships and influence people outside Finance.
Importantly, you’ll need:
- Strong fixed asset and capital accounting experience.
- Experience within property, housing, construction, facilities management or a similarly asset-intensive organisation.
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Experience partnering operational teams responsible for assets, property, repairs, maintenance or capital programmes.
- Confidence providing financial advice, support and constructive challenge to non-finance colleagues.
- Statutory accounts experience and knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
You’ll enjoy being close to the operation rather than simply reporting the numbers – understanding what is driving spend, asking the right questions and helping managers make informed financial decisions.
Why Apply?
- You’ll be joining a people-focused organisation with a strong social purpose, where the work of Finance ultimately supports the provision and improvement of homes and services for thousands of people across Greater Manchester.
- It’s an opportunity to combine your property and asset accounting expertise with genuine business partnering, in a role where you can see the impact of the decisions you help to shape.
- If you’re a qualified accountant with the right fixed asset and property-related experience and would like to know more, we’d love to hear from you.
