Interim Financial Controller |6-month Contract | Hybrid | North London (some office attendance required)

We are looking for an Interim Financial Controller for an initial 6-month contract. Supporting a well-established, values-led housing organisation during a period of change and reorganisation, to ensure the year-end and Business as Usual finance runs efficiently and accurately.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on role, ideal for an experienced Financial Controller who can quickly take ownership of financial control, statutory reporting and team leadership within a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing the Finance Team
  • Full ownership of financial control and statutory reporting, including year-end accounts and audit
  • Oversight of month-end close, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Cashflow forecasting and liquidity monitoring to support funding requirements
  • Responsibility for tax matters including VAT, Corporation Tax and charitable reliefs
  • Delivery of regulatory and statutory returns in line with sector requirements
  • Oversight of transactional finance
  • Rent setting compliance in line with regulatory standards
  • Partnering with Treasury and Business Planning on forecasts and financial planning
  • Production of clear, concise reports for senior stakeholders, Board and Committees
  • Driving process improvement and strengthening financial controls
  • Acting as deputy to senior leadership within Resources when required

About You

You will be a confident interim who can add value quickly and operate effectively in a complex environment.

You will bring:

  • Full CCAB (or equivalent) accountancy qualification
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a senior financial accounting role within Social Housing
  • Proven experience producing statutory accounts and leading external audit
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capability
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
