Project Accountant | Haydock | £45,000–£55,000 + benefits | Hybrid

We’re looking for a hands-on Project Accountant to join a growing finance team in Haydock. You’ll take ownership of the monthly accounting for a portfolio of projects, working closely with project, commercial and finance colleagues to make sure every number is accurate, supported and understood.
What you’ll be doing

Prepare monthly revenue recognition and project cost accounting for long-term contracts

Maintain project balance sheet positions, including WIP, accrued and deferred revenue, retentions and provisions

Review project cost reports and CVRs, testing percentage complete, forecast costs and margins

Deliver month-end journals, reconciliations, schedules and commentary to deadline

Investigate variances, resolve data issues and explain changes in project performance

Support improvements to project accounting processes, controls and systems
What we’re looking for
You’ll be newly qualified or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with experience in project or contract accounting. You’ll understand percentage-of-completion accounting and the contract balance sheet, and be confident working with project cost reports and commercial teams.
Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, energy, M&E or made-to-order manufacturing would be useful. Strong Excel skills are important; experience with NetSuite, ProScope or Power BI would be an advantage. You don’t need previous line management experience, but there’s room to develop as the team grows.
