We have a great opportunity for a project accountant for a social housing provider in Manchester. This is a truly varied role, where you will use your financial and management accounting skills to support the finance director with various projects and your business partnering skills to help operational teams to work more effectively.

The Role:

•             Lead on the annual audit process and act as the point of contact with the external auditors. This includes preparing the financial statements, dealing with the auditors on site, resolving queries promptly and ensuring the Finance Director is updated as to its progress. 

•             Lead in the creation of the company’s annual financial budget, Work with finance colleagues and the Heads of Department to create a plan and present it to the Executive Team ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to business deadlines.

•             Manage the company’s cashflow forecasting model. Work with finance colleagues and the wider business to ensure the accurate, timely reporting of the company’s cash position.

•             Support the finance team with the preparation of the company’s financial regulatory returns.

•             Act as business partner to the asset management team to increase financial awareness within the team.

•             Review and provide commentary on monthly variances from actual to budget and forecast to both the Finance Director, Commercial Director, and Head of Asset Management

•             Assist in the delivery of the monthly management accounts, providing ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.

•             Actively participate in the development and improvement of finance processes, policies, and internal control procedures

•             Work closely with the Finance Director on identifying ad-hoc projects required to improve the financial robustness of the team, provide enhanced support to the wider business, and to help the team achieve departmental KPI’s and deadlines.

•             Build relationships across all departments and with Heads of Department to understand key drivers of performance.

•             Continually review and investigate new ways of working and recommend and implement these changes to improve quality of service.

 

The Person

Hold a recognised accounting qualification ( ACA,CIMA, ACCA)

Confident communicator – able to partner non finance teams

Working knowledge of Sage and advanced Excel skills
