Rents & Service Charge Officer | Finance Team | Permanent | Hybrid Working

We’re looking for a thoughtful, analytical and customer-focused Rents & Service Charge Officer to join the Finance team of a respected housing organisation.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys combining data, legislation and customer communication, and who takes real pride in getting things right.

The Role

Reporting to the Rents & Service Charge Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring rent and service charges are calculated, communicated and managed accurately and fairly, in line with legislation and internal policies.

Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Housing and Development, you will help maintain financial integrity, deliver excellent customer service and ensure value for money for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate service charge estimates and year-end statements in line with lease agreements and legislation
  • Monitor service charge income and expenditure, identifying variances and potential overspend
  • Manage day-to-day requests relating to rents and service charges, including re-lets and right to buy/acquire processes
  • Maintain and reconcile sinking fund records, notifying residents of balances
  • Respond promptly and professionally to service charge queries and complaints
  • Support new developments by producing service charge estimates that reflect actual costs
  • Provide accurate information for audits and management accounts
  • Attend meetings and explain service charges clearly and confidently to residents and stakeholders
  • Ensure housing system data is accurate and up to date
  • Contribute to process improvements and support wider finance functions when required

About You

  • Experience of working within a busy finance environment
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • The confidence to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to build positive working relationships

Most importantly, you will be curious, thorough and motivated by doing things properly — someone who enjoys holding complex information, understanding how it fits together, and ensuring fairness and accuracy for customers.

What’s on Offer

  • A supportive and collaborative finance team
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • Ongoing professional development
  • The opportunity to play a meaningful role in delivering transparent and fair housing services

If you’re someone who thrives on detail, enjoys solving problems and wants to make a tangible difference behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.
