At Bayman Atkinson Smythe Ltd, we’re excited to be supporting a business based in Bury, North West, in their search for a Temporary Shipping Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in supply chain or warehouse operations to join a busy and dynamic environment.

THE JOB

The role involves supporting the daily logistics functions, ensuring the smooth flow of goods both inbound and outbound, and contributing to the efficient running of the warehouse. If you enjoy a varied role that keeps you active and organised, then this could be the perfect fit for you.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, pack, and label customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Generate shipping labels, manifests, invoices, and related documentation
  • Coordinate courier bookings, collections, and monitor shipment tracking
  • Inspect outgoing goods for quality and accuracy prior to dispatch
  • Maintain up-to-date shipping records within systems or spreadsheets
  • Receive, check, and inspect inbound deliveries for damage and discrepancies
  • Assist with unloading deliveries safely using appropriate equipment
  • Accurately store goods in designated warehouse locations
  • Support stock replenishment, inventory counts, and cycle counting activities
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and organisation of the warehouse and shipping areas
  • Help manage warehouse supplies, including packaging materials and equipment.

THE PERSON

  • Experience in shipping, warehouse receiving, or general logistics roles
  • Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, spreadsheets, and shipping systems
  • Physical ability to handle manual or mechanical unloading tasks
  • Existing forklift or pallet truck licences are a plus but not essential

This position offers standard working hours from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am to 4pm on Fridays, providing a good work-life balance. It’s a fantastic chance to gain hands-on logistics experience within a supportive company environment, with the opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to a busy warehouse team.
