Paying between £32k - £40k, this fast-paced company, based near Chester is recruiting for a permanent Assistant Accountant to work in their finance department and support the Finance Director. The role offers a hybrid working pattern (3 days office-based and 2 days WFH) and 28 days' holiday (plus bank holidays) in addition to a pension scheme, private healthcare, and a company staff discount.

The Role

The job's main purpose is to be the number one support for the Finance Director, managing the day-to-day financial operations and providing clear financial information to the wider team. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Control the purchase ledger, ensuring the accuracy of the ledger and payment of suppliers in line with payment terms
  • Take ownership of the sales ledger, eliminating the credit balances and keeping debt to a minimum
  • Manage the daily cash flow forecast and post bank transactions
  • Ownership of fixed assets area of the accounts 
  • Post stock invoices, once in transit and post the movements
  • Weekly sales v forecast by product
  • Pull together month end reporting pack (including P&L, Balance, Sheet, Cash Flow, prepayment / accrual breakdown, Stock and FA reconciliations) and post month end journals
  • Perform all monthly control account recs: e.g. Fixed Assets, Sales and Purchase Ledger Control Account recs, Prepayment and Accrual analysis
  • Monthly Bank Recs for all bank accounts and monthly check of sales credits
  • Track spend against expense budgets and hold monthly meetings with key budget holders to discuss performance against budget and upcoming expenditure.
  • Submit the monthly VAT return and build the overhead forecasts as part of the quarterly forecasting process 

The Person

This will suit someone who is looking for a long-term career move and an individual that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You can be QBE or  part-qualified (study support can be offered) and be someone looking for a chance to put their existing Accounting skills to good use and be able to hit the ground running. You must have excellent Excel skills, be organised with good attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure is essential. An understanding of Business Central or other Microsoft Dynamics systems would be advantageous. You must be dynamic and motivated with a real drive to succeed and someone who enjoys learning new things and new challenges.
