Paying £26k + Benefits + Parking - Based in Bury, North Manchester, our client is a large global service provider. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Shipping Assistant to join and support a successful shipping department with a great working environment and a supportive and friendly team. This is an office-based role, working Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm and 8.00am- 4.00pm on a Friday (37 hours per week).

THE JOB

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, as Shipping Assistant you will be responsible for delivering a high level of performance. Demonstrating both attention to detail and efficiency when despatching shipments on time in accordance to promised dates set by the customer service team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Picking and reconciling products against pick lists
  • Labelling and packing products
  • Generating packing lists through Sage
  • Processing dangerous goods orders including certification
  • Ensuring all orders are packed ready for collection each day
  • Moving expiring stock to quarantined areas
  • Weekly disposing of expired stock
  • Completing daily stock rotation and consolidation
  • Completing weekly spot checks
  • Identifying any damaged products and bringing them to the attention of quality assurance
  • Ensuring all areas within your responsibility and the wider environment are kept clean and free of any potential hazards
  • Assisting in the development of the department by presenting ideas and helping with the implementation
  • Reporting any operating failures of equipment
  • Assisting in the planning and successful completion of the annual stock take

THE PERSON

The ideal Shipping Assistant will already be working in a similar role. You must be confident, able to manage multiple tasks and able to keep a cool head when working under pressure.

  • Experience of working with dangerous goods is essential.
  • A counterbalance licence would be desirable but is not essential.
